<lj:music>The Album Leaf - Over The Pond (thanks Gen)</lj:music>

This evening I stripped HAL for parts. HAL was my oldest computer, which was being used for a music server. I took these parts, and others that I purchased/bartered for and beefed up my main cpu, “The Beast”. This is a good as the beast now runs like a motherfucker, but it is bittersweet as it marks the end of an era. HAL, having served well through middle school, the apartment era, and all three golden ages of the lair is now for the most part dead and decommissioned. The beast will soon leave its home, along with much of my other equipment marking the end of the third golden age of the lair.

To everyone who has ever known this place, bless you.. and let us pray that someday there will be a fourth.

Bon Voyage.

Tonight I saw in three dimensions for the first time.

Everything I see is obviously in three dimensions but to me has always looked no different than the two dimensional images on a TV screen.
Tonight I went outside around 3:30 to take a walk. It is an extremely foggy night. I walked by a house with a spotlight-like light mounted on their garage. This light shined through the branches of a thick tree in such a way that it produced heavy beams of light illuminated by the fog, shining in all directions. Never before have I experienced three dimensions like this. Each beam of light seemed as if I could put fourth my mouth and bite it.. infact I tried. I literally could see each particle of light that hung all around me in the air.
God it's such an awesome world we live in.

There are certain places I go in my head when I want to be at peace. It's nice when I can find one that exists in real life:
Elk Mound Wisconsin: An extremely small rural community inhabited half by farmers, and half by once middle class suburbanites looking to escape to a smaller world. In the town's center, a stone tower resembling a castle's parapet stands erect atop the highest hillside of rolling green and scattered trees. The setting sun hangs in the humid air, shrouding the land in golden sort of haze for as far as the colors stretch. I turn to my new friend who had lived beside it for a lifetime. To her it's as common as morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Hatred was written in our blood, and so it is my own twisted fate that keeps me from you now."
Tearing my cloak from her shoulders she fled from the room, leaving me alone to add the finishing touches to my thesis.
